Please indicate your planned Secondary School or Vocational Career program for which the scholarship will be used. (e.g. Ohio State University, Biology Major)

The Resilience Scholarship Fund will award a minimum of (5) $1000 scholarships in 2024. The scholarship will be awarded to high school seniors who have shown extraordinary resilience to a personal or family life challenge. Examples include family, personal, health, physical, emotional, mental health, and all other scenarios where resilience has been demonstrated.

Criteria

Students must be current high school seniors (expected graduation 2024) within one of the following eligible Ohio school districts: Oakwood City School District, Lakota Local School District, Kings Local School District, Centerville City School District and Kettering City School District
Students must plan to enroll in a post-secondary educational program (Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree, Vocational School, etc.)
Complete the electronic form by midnight March 31, 2024 for consideration. Winners will be contacted by late May.

Scholarships will be evaluated by (2) different constituents – a team of JH/SH students, and a team of JH/SH Staff. Keep this in mind when completing the application. Applicant names will be removed from forms when reviewed for consideration.

Resilience Essay
Demonstrate how you have shown extraordinary resilience to a personal or family life challenge. Examples include family, personal, health, physical, emotional, mental health, and all other scenarios where resilience has been demonstrated. (No minimum or maximum word count. Focus on answering questions below clearly, concisely, and thoroughly for the benefit of the committee.)

Part 1 – Explain the background/situation of your personal or family life challenge – What was the situation?

Part 2 – Provide details and specific examples of your resilience in facing this challenge – What did you do?

Part 3 – Explain how being resilient has had a positive impact on your life and/or the life of those around you.
