Welcome!  The Resilience Scholarship Fund was established in 2019 as a legacy initiative in memory of Dan Weckstein.

Dan Weckstein served the Cincinnati/Dayton community for 20+ years as a teacher and administrator in the Kings Local SD, Lakota Local SD and most recently as principal of Oakwood Junior High School in Dayton, Ohio.

The mission of the fund is simple:

  • Acknowledge and celebrate resilient students, by supporting them in their post-secondary endeavors through scholarship awards.

  • Build a network of resilience ambassadors that work to support and promote resilience among the student community.

  • Support the development of grades 7-12 student-centered programs that inspire and promote resilience through a grant program.

Through the generous contributions of donors, over $40,000 has been collected in support of The Resilience Scholarship Fund.

About

Dan Weckstein worked as an educator in the Cincinnati/Dayton area for over 20 years.  He most recently was principal at Oakwood Junior High in Dayton, Ohio until 2015 when he took a medical leave due to a rare form of brain cancer.  The resilience and bravery he showed in the face of his cancer was the inspiration for this fund.
